When you get a custom WordPress website from RSPONSIV, chances are that your site will include a plugin called Advanced Custom Fields (ACF). ACF adds a lot of great features that allow us, as the developers of your website, to make various parts of your site easier for you to edit without ever having to touch any HTML code. If you’re familiar with WordPress, you’ll know that there are some basic fields on posts and pages where you can change the content or the title of that specific post or page. But sometimes you may have the need to update a specific part of your site outside what the default WordPress options provide. With ACF we can add a variety of new fields like these (and more) that make it so you can edit nearly anything on your website. For example, we can add fields that let you edit information in the header like a business name, address, or phone number. Let’s take a look at a couple of the ways we’ve used ACF in our client’s projects.
What is a WordPress Theme?
To put it simply, a WordPress theme is what gives your site its style and function. Basically a theme tells your WordPress website to look and behave a certain way. Your theme will include a whole slew of different files that are responsible for things such as building the site header, the footer, etc. One of the most important files in a theme is the stylesheet. This file controls the look of your custom WordPress website: colors, fonts, etc. WordPress themes can range from simple to extremely complex. They are usually written with particular needs in mind which is why there are so many available.
